Public Works Crews Responding to Blizzard Conditions

Eagle River, WI — Snow continues to fall across the Eagle River area as a significant winter storm moves through northern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning followed by a Blizzard Warning beginning this morning and continuing into Monday afternoon, bringing heavy snowfall, strong winds and potentially dangerous travel conditions.

The City of Eagle River Public Works Department has crews actively plowing and treating streets as conditions allow. With heavy snowfall and strong winds expected to create blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility, it may take time for crews to fully clear all roadways.

Residents are asked for patience as Public Works employees work long hours to stay ahead of the storm and keep streets as safe as possible.

Due to the severity of the storm and expected whiteout conditions, the City continues to recommend that residents avoid travel unless it is absolutely necessary. If travel cannot be avoided, drivers are urged to use extreme caution, allow extra travel time and maintain a safe distance from snowplows so crews can safely continue their work.

The City of Eagle River appreciates the community’s cooperation and support as our Public Works team works diligently to keep roads open during this significant winter weather event.
