**Public Meeting on Downtown Eagle River Historic District Nomination**

**Eagle River, WI** – The Eagle River Revitalization Program, in cooperation with the Eagle River Historic Society, is pleased to announce a public meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 8:00 AM at Andy’s Pontoon Saloon, located at 220 E. Wall Street. This meeting will feature presentations by Traci Schnell, Architectural Historian with TES Historical Consulting LLC, and Elizabeth Hilton, National Register Coordinator with the State Historic Preservation Office.

The meeting will cover the findings and detailed map of the proposed Downtown Eagle River Historic District, outlining contributing and non-contributing properties. Speakers will explain the nomination process and the benefits of historic tax credits. The presentation will be under an hour, followed by a Q&A session where attendees can have their questions answered.

This project was made possible with grant funds from the WI Main Street/Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) office. Our nomination paperwork will be presented at the State Review Board meeting in Milwaukee on August 23, 2024, to approve the nomination package to be presented to the National Park Service. This public meeting is an important step in the nomination process requirements for the State Review Board meeting.

Property owners in the proposed district, city officials, and residents are highly encouraged to attend this important event. Your participation is essential in preserving and celebrating the heritage of our community.

Karen Margelofsky, Executive Director of the Eagle River Revitalization Program, emphasizes, “This nomination is a crucial step towards preserving our rich history and ensuring the continued vibrancy of our downtown. It’s an opportunity for us to honor our past while paving the way for a brighter future.”
